Knysna RIB Adventures being sensitive to the environment and operating within a National Park has chosen twin 4-stroke 250HP Yamaha engines which carry an international 3-star CARB rating for ultra low emissions which means we get to have a lot of fun with minimum impact on this natural wonder. We have a good relationship & a signed agreement with The Knysna National Parks Board to operate with in the rules the entire length of the Knysna Estuary.

The Vessel

"Moonraker" is a custom designed Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) or "Rubber Duck as they are commonly referred to by the locals and is one of the largest of her kind (9 meters/29.5 feet) in South Africa. She is powered by twin 4-stroke 250HP Yamaha engines and has achieved speeds of up to 53 knots (98 Km/h). She was specifically built for her intended use and with the infamous Knysna Heads in mind. She has great sea-keeping abilities an enormous amount of reserve power combined with extreme turning capabilities which allows her to turn between waves & out-run them should it be required. Massive re-enforced military grade pontoons with watertight compartments & a strengthened deep-V hull contribute towards a secure platform. All these features have produced a safe efficient passenger friendly vessel which takes care of its occupants. We are commercially licensed by SAMSA (The South African Maritime Safety Association) to carry 12 passengers accommodated on individual jockey seats & 3 crew. We carry a full range of the latest safety equipment & navigational aids. The vessel is always captained by individuals holding the appropriate commercial certificates and more importantly having the necessary experience. She is professionally serviced and maintained by Knysna Yamaha.
